Arty farty

The rain petered out in the middle of the night, so we woke to another fine day.

We wandered over to the art exhibition which was the local village society's amateur work. Some we admired, others, well...

One display was of marquetry and it turned out it was by the grandmother of the member. She was born in Ukraine in 1898 but left Russia after the Revolution. Her husband was a Bolshevik. Their home was Avdiivka which is currently in the front line, so I'd heard of it. Lovely work.

Another did fine stitcheork flowers and even I could appreciate the craftspersonship.

We wended over hill and Dale, stopping to check this viaduct for its engineering.

We are heading to the Dordogne, which is known for its beauty, and for chateaus/castles.

We stopped in Beaulieu which is another well preserved ancient town. First point of business was a swim, and while the river wasn't too appealing (algae) the pool was.

The local rugby club is having a party next door, but they had the decency to let all the motorhomers know. Fingers crossed it doesn't run too late, though they extended invites to us...
