Zaragoza

Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon. Roman, Visigoth, Moor, Aragonese and Spain have all controlled it, so every building seems to have layers of history.

Roman walls still stand

What is it with wonky church towers? This one's leaning like the tower of Pisa.

Another market

The Aljaferia. Pretty cool restoration given the changes that had been made over time. It's now partly the local government chambers I think.

The chap on top is Palafox, the commander of the besieges Spaniards in the first siege of Zaragoza.  They held the French off despite initially being outnumbered.

Bullring of course

The basilica was quite something, though you could only look in a third of it.

This 2/3 wasn't open to the public

And then there was a lift up one of the towers, so we took the view.

The Pasage del Industria. Not much industry there, but a few shops

Low point of the day: chocolate mint tea.

The park-up is chocker. There were 22 when we went into town and I'd say 60-70 now.
