This wheel's on fire...

We couldn't leave without watching a bit of the World Championship Pump Biking competition after yesterday's teasers, so we got everything packed up then walked down for a look. It was a beautiful day as the heatwave that has hit Britain has trickled up here as well. Unfortunately it has brought hay-fever so I am zonked by mid-afternoon. But that's by-the-by.

I wonder who the sponsors are?

This couple made sure of a good view by sitting on top of a pile of dirt. (That's how new the track is, btw - the spoil has not yet been cleared.)

Women's open first

Followed by the men's.

You could tell the top riders from the also-rans within the first few metres: the good guys got so much impetus from their two or three pedal strokes  that the others didn't

We couldn't stay all day. Well, we could I suppose, but we'd been there long enough.

Ticking over another 1000 km

View from our stop.

We got another free fireworks display for the end of the town's festival.

Showerometer: 18
