Lalaland

Off to Billund, the Lego city. It was a lovely drive and the weather was perfect. We parked up in the racecourse carpark then wandered around Lalaland, the other entertainment centre in Billund. It's more a physical activities place where there's an aquapark, ice-skating, ten-pin bowling, wall climbing, badminton,  etc,  etc.

It's the twilight zone at Lalaland

'Skiing' and wall climbing

Ice skating

Water kick-boxing

High-wire madness

Training at the racecourse behind our park. Every now and then his Lego leg would fall off. Everything in Billund is made of Lego, so it's lucky we brought our own food.

It turns out that if you go to Legoland at 7:30 you can get in free. Sure, all the rides are closed, but they are pretty kid-centred anyway and there's the miniature lands to see (and shops if you are into Lego). So we had dinner then did exactly that. Half the places we'd visited were there so we could just have flown in and saved a month.

I'm so out of touch. Is this Edward Scissor Hands? And Wolverine?

J pretending she's not dying to get inside

Mogeltonder, our very first stop in Denmark. We had afternoon tea in that cafe just there, see? The one on the bend.

Amsterdam. Got that T-shirt a few years back.

Some building in Mecca. I'll take this pick as I'm unlikely to get there for real.

They even had a bagpiper, though playing must be tricky with no fingers.

What can I say?

These guys played quite the merry shanty, though in a carefully non-denominational language.

The old witch doesn't show too clearly here, but she insisted on posing next to the Lego one. (boom, boom)

Got that T-shirt years ago!

Anyway, it was an enjoyable several hours and I probably wouldn't ever want to do more than that. There was some really clever model building on display. I was most impressed that locks and boat lifts on the canals were working!
