Heading south

We left Chartes rather late (mid-day)and headed south. I don't seem to have taken any photos so it must have been an unremarkable trip.

Our stop was lakeside in the Brenne national park. I thought the dozens of lakes would be natural but it turns out they are largely man-made, originally by monks. Apparently they they are good for fishing, and definitely good for flora and fauna.

This fishing rod was unusual (to me) as it had no reel. It could be extended by adding sections, and when a fish was hooked it could be brought in by removing the sections. The line ran through the last section and could be let out or pulled in as required.

This dude netted a carp while we watched

A nice size, but he was 'catch and return'
