Ile be seeing ya

Today we got up relatively early for a trip out to Ile de Brehat. It takes longer to embark everyone than the trip takes I think so it's not a great distance. However, that changes according to the tide...

There are no cars on the island, though there are tractors and at least one mobility scooter, so there's not much need for roads either. The population is only circa 300, but I imagine it expands with summer and of course day trippers and those staying in camps or hotels would swell it vastly in normal times. Even today the ferries were pretty full.

This private island isn't one at low tide. Its causeway was just emerging as we arrived.

This is an ebbing tide and already there are hundreds of islets

Sad end to someone's dream

Anyone else see a baby's face?

Nice to see J still happy

Looking north toward the UK (which is not much further away than when we started!)

The rose-granite rocks had some pretty crazy shapes

At low tide you have to walk for miles to embark/disembark. I'd say between the two ends of the trip probably a kilometre of pier! When we embarked at high tide we were right up at the building at the rear of shot.

As a bit of bad news our inverter has died. It converts battery 12v DC power to useable 220v AC for our various appliances when we aren't plugged in, so this will be a problem until we can get it fixed. Hopefully it is just an internal fuse...
