Pink Cadillacs

Figeholm had nothing much to hold us so we drove on, We took a scenic route, stopping for lunch at a quaint village.

J not quite capturing the rural scenery

Lunch by the sea

And the quaint hamlet off somewhere or other

As we are heading south the choice is pretty much to go coastal. Our stop was in Kalmar, an old fortified harbour. It  had a pretty good castle and a nice town centre.

These are cannonballs embedded in the walls during a siege

The caretaker's house

The city's western gate. It now leads to the prison

Cathedral, though no longer one as the diocese has moved

Old buildings on the town square. A running competition had just ended, hence the tape

And then there were these! Not a Cadillac, but it is pink

These cars were parading through the city,  doing circuits

Nice!

Most of the drivers looked like good 'ol boys, with ZZ-Top beards and black T-shirts, and that was just the women. We'd seen these yank cars all over Sweden, so it's quite a thing there.

 Sculpture in the park

I don't know if it was related to the run or the cars or neither, but there was a concert at the park across from us that went to 2am. Not much of a sleep had, though J had earplugs which helped.
