Being an important port, and apparently the last naval base in Sweden, Karlskrona has a pretty good Maritime Museum. More submarines - how many is that now?
The port city when built. The islets were incorporated into the town by joining several of them with causeways. There's been a great deal of reclamation as well.
A selection of torpedoes, including some very early ones
And things to deliver them. I was surprised at the sophistication of these Swedish-built boats (apologies to any Swedish readers)
The Karlskrona archepelago
Migraine headaches explained
There were flying boats stationed here until well after WW2
The town centre was huge and empty. I'm not sure why as we had not been able to find decent parking it was so full of cars. Where did all the drivers go? Btw, doesn't this look Italian?
We didn't travel far from Karlskrona, stopping at Nogersund on the coast
