Getting tyred?

Schwerin proved to have some nice buildings too. The castle was (is?) the capital of Mecklenburg and I think this was a Duke's seat. Now it is the state government offices, a museum (closed on Mondays, the day we visited) a venue and a restaurant. There was an artillery regiment based there in the past so there were large barrack buildings, and the prince/duke/whatever had large stables as well. Add to that ministry buildings, a large theatre, a few churches and the Rathaus and you have some quite impressive edifices. The memorial in this town was to Mecklenburg soldiers who died in teh Franco-Prussian War 1870-71. (I have a wargame with me in the MH on the subject that I thought I might get to play in my downtime. Ha!)

The castle

There's a great view through the grounds to the castle...

...which is fully enjoyed by the Officer's Casino

We have got a worn right-front tyre so we have started the search for a stockist of camper tyres. We tried three in Schwerin with no luck, and none in the next town either. It seems our size is unusual, in addition to requiring a special camper tyre.

Camp was on the side of the Elbe river. I have wargamed a Soviet invasion of West Germany where one of the main routes of advance was through this very town. It was very peaceful today.
