Our neighbour
More of the Magma Geopark
And what's this? Dragons teeth lining a long stretch of beach south of Stavanger
By coincidence we parked next to a cemetery that happened to have a small Commonwealth War Grave Commission plot for those who died in the area.
Serendipity: the graves of those who died in the first operation to blow up Vemork were right here.
Hmm. Is the boot on the other foot?
More white wooden houses, this time crawling with cruise boat tourists.
From cruise boats such as this.
Wall art is common in Norwegian cities.
More serendipity: When I read the plaque on this steamer it told me that it was damagedin the explosion in Bergen that I am helping Karel out with! When I then looked at the photos it turns out to be the ship pictured in many of them as being at 'ground zero'. How cool is that?
We spent some time in the Oil Museum which was surprisingly interesting. I found the models very good of course and we got a good idea of how the Norwegian oil industry has developed. They've used it well and now have trillions of dollars in their oil fund for when it all runs out.
This is a piece of the Kielland flotel (accommodation rig) that sunk killing several (30?) men. It's amazing how plastic that steel looks.
