Onwards, but only a little bit.

We had an appointment with my editor, Karel, in Utrecht so got out of bed at the crack of 10am. We joined the queue of motorhomes refilling essentials and emptying the others, then went to have a look at a lakey, canaly sort of area nearby. We parked [Reggie] up and took a stroll. Heaps of wildlife - blackfaced terns, frogs, grebes,  herons, storks, flutterbys, etc, etc.

It's a wealthy area for sure, but looks like a pleasant place to live.

En route we passed a swimming pool so decided to grab our togs and go for a swim. J whipped up a few buns for lunch and we ate them  between swims.

We stayed until the clouds refused to part and headed of for our dinner date with Karel and Marya. All of 20 mins up the road! They were lovely hosts who fed and watered us. They also showed us around the fort they live inside. (Their house is in the old fort area - they don't live in a fort like a house, though that would be cool.) Blauwkapel is part of the Water Line defensive line and has layers of defences on show from 19th century through to 20th. The chapel that gives it its name is even older still. It was well after midnight before I hit the sack, with Reggie parked outside the old barracks building.
