It's Gouda nough for us

We went to sleep in rain, woke up in rain, drove in rain and parked up in rain. Actually we parked up in Gouda. It continued to rain until 4-ish so we just read. I have finished The Gilded Age now. As a novel it is a bit untidy, but as a satire I think it's great.

We are not alone

Finally the skies cleared so we walked around the town. It has the same Dutch charm as Delft with narrow roads, canals, and lots of bikes. You just don't see Brits, or Kiwis for that matter ever getting into biking like the Dutch, but you also don't see many obese Dutch. Their whole infrastructure is set up for them though, with cycle lanes everywhere, and road rules favouring them as well.

Gouda is, of course, the home of Gouda cheese, and tomorrow we going to see the traditional cheese market. There are plenty of cheese shops but the are overshadowed by a far more important one.

Not the Monty Python Cheese Shop

Hoorah!

Btw, please excuse my pics. I'm using my smartphone for most which gives a clear enough pic and is really easy to upload, but which has a short focal length so distorts pictures quite badly. The lamppost below is vertical in real life.
Stadhuis - City Hall.

And out of the depths...
