Yes folks, its time for a series of rain filled days and blog titles.
We woke to drizzle, though that didn't stop people swimming - hardier souls than us. We also had no power of course so NO CUPPA!!!
We were very much reminded of the Irish coast |
An unusual 'square' shaped lighthouse (though concave sides). |
J enjoying the cooler weather |
There's a tiny little port here too, even with Cherbourg just 10km away |
That wasn't too bad was it? We drove through Cherbourg without stopping which was probably rather unfair as it has a wealth of history not even counting WW2. Was the opening of Les Miserables set in Cherbourg? We took the coastal road toward the tip of the Cotentin peninsula - La Hague, but this is pretty much the view we got:
Did that stop us? Hell no. We had a lunch at a manor that what appeared to be a New Zealand garden (but was never described that way). Cabbage trees, ferns, bottle brush, pittosporum: we could have been at home. And I got a cuppa, though I had to pay for it.
A taste of home |
Onward we pressed, through rain and fog and rather narrow roads to Port Goury, at the tip of the peninsula.
J got sick of narrow roads in the fog so we gave up the scenic coast road and headed strait to our park-up at La Vallee du Baubigny. It was wet and miserable when we got in and we couldn't find the owner so we just hooked up and got settled. I'm sure it'll be sorted in the morning. Apparently you can see Guernsey from here...
Btw, what the heck? Do they edit email differently in France? |
