Pipe pieces and poisonous lettuce

Today's mission was to get the radiator fixed at last. We had been pointed to a camper shop in near Lannion by the guy who fixed the inverter, but they couldn't do it either and pointed us to the Renault garage up the road. At last we found someone who would do the job, but after lunch.

Anyway, he got stuck in and now we are €210 poorer for a 6" length of pipe! OK, he had to flush and replace the coolant too, but ouch!

That split is £190 worth of trouble.

We weren't far from the coast so drove to St Michel en Greve and had a cuppa. We watched some trucks and diggers scooping up sea-lettuce which was covering the bay. We thought they might be harvesting it but it turns out it can be a deadly scourge! When it decomposes it generates H2S which can kill very quickly. In 2009 two people were killed on the beach, one of whom was a driver of the clearance truck. Surprisingly there were no warning signs up at the beach. You can see the extent of the weed in the pictures below.

Aside from the potentially deadly sea lettuce the beach was quite something. I'd say that at low tide (which is what it was when we visited) it would be over a kilometre to the sea.

From there it was inland to Belle-isle-en-terre.

Quite a nice campsite, sheltered but sunny.

A river runs through it

Then...

...and now. They have old photos up all through the town showing scenes of yesteryear
. It's a great idea in my opinion.

A small market was running and we bought some eggs, including one pigeon egg for something different. There was also an art expo with a range of artworks, some good, some not so much.
