Creating a scene

Some fun things to manage last week. First the van got smashed into on Friday. My caretaker wasn't hurt, but had only just taken the assessment to make him a legal driver two days before. Whew. Now we have to pay for taxis to move stuff between the two sites.

On Friday we had a burglary at the school. As we were entertaining the head-teacher and her husband we managed to have the Estate Manager, the Headteacher and the Project Manager on site within 5 minutes of the alarm going off. Not bad that. We didn't catch anyone as they made off over the roof where they had got in. A gutsy move given its height and the snow and ice that had fallen that evening. Stupid too as they left footprints all over which the CSI came and photographed. Also possibly some blood.

Sadly the snow meant hockey was cancelled. I was supposed to also play today but J and I watched the England A side playing Ireland A. Ireland couldn't finish a move and lost 17-13. Only themselves to blame as England weren't great.

On Tuesday I get one of my staff-members back so may be able to spend more time actually doing the management side of my job from next week.

Some more progress on the diorama...

Plus ça change plus c'est la même chose

I have a new job as temporary Estate Manager - the same as the old new job I had as temp Estate Manager last April. It's going to be a challenge and a half...

Meanwhile slow progress is made on the bridge...

As you'll see in J's blog, it has been a little white over here. It's lovely, though we've had some heating issues I have to deal with. It's all supposed to warm up a bit in the next few days, but that won't stop the snow freezing tonight.

Here's a picture of a bunch of frozes.

Happy New Year

Well, J has given an update of what we've been up to so I won't say too much about it. Here's what I've been doing though...

I can't have a bridge being built without men building the bridge, so I have to build the kitset men to build the kitset bridge.

Since I have two identical packets of kitset men and I don't want that to be obvious in the final diorama I have had to cut off heads, arms and legs and reattach them to strike different poses. It's like a miniature slaughter house!

I've managed to complete 5 of the 22 characters, with another three awaiting painting.
